Edward Whitten Obituary

Edward Philip Whitten, born March 26, 1947, in Fitchburg, MA, passed away March 16, 2024, in Bennington, Vermont, having courageously navigated 21 years with Parkinson's Disease.

Ed grew up in Lunenburg, MA with his parents and 4 younger siblings. His fondest memories include summers in Rockport on the beach, surfing on Cape Cod, hiking in the White Mountains and skiing Tuckerman Ravine.

Ed graduated from UMass Worcester in 1970 with a degree in Biology.

Ed's passion for nature continued throughout his life. He lived the last 40 years of his life in Vermont, working, skiing, hiking, and sharing his vast knowledge of plants, animals and the outdoors with friends, family and his wife, Stacey Whitten, whom he married in 2002.

Ed will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Stacey, his son, Ira Whitten, three siblings and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
