Gail Harrington Obituary

Gail J. Harrington, 74, a resident of Houghton St. in North Bennington, VT died Saturday October 2, 2021 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, VT following a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

She was born in Bennington, VT. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Millie (Brown) Van Orman. Gail received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School.

She married Wallace Harrington in October 28, 1965.

During her life she had many careers she was diligent, hard working employee of Union Carbide. She spent many gratifying years working in the local school system as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher. Gail also enjoyed working in retail for many years and most recently at Greene Oil in Bennington, VT.

Gail was a very talented artist, an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting.

Survivors include her husband Wallace Harrington of North Bennington. Her children, Nicole Bombard (Joseph) of Granville, NY, Star Schmaler (Travis) of Cossayuna, NY, Joshua Harrington (Caroline McKenzie) of Hebron, NY and Felicity Purzycki (Jeffrey) of Bennington, VT. Six grandchildren, Riley and Brett Schmaler, Sydney and Morgan Purzycki and Penelope and Maxwell Harrington. A sister Teddy Hill of Bennington and a brother Chuck VanOrman of Bennington and Aunt Patricia Cushman of North Bennington. Along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and many cousins.

There will be no calling hours

The funeral will be held at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church on Monday October 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

To the Harrington family,and what a Klan you have now.Wally, You wife wasba beautiful woman,i could tell many stories of my childhhood with all your Children,and yes,i have many!
I had no idea Gail was sick. I am very sorry to hear about this. Came as an unpleasant morning awakening. Wishing much peace to you all knowing she loved all of you so very much. Be well.

Wally & family: so sorry for your loss of best friend, wife, Mom, and Grandmother. Her family and close friends were her "world" that she cherished. She fought a long courageous battle with dignity and a good sense of humor. May you all have fond memories to ease your sorrow
