George D. Armitage

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- George D. Armitage, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at the Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Bennington, Vt. George was the husband of the late Doris Armitage.

He was born July 8, 1924, in Stroutsburg, Pa., son of the late James and Alvena (Woolbert) Armitage. George was educated at Hoosick Falls High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked at the former Wood Flong Corporation in Hoosick Falls. He was a member of the First United Church and the V.F.W. Post No. 8417 in Hoosick Falls. George enjoyed fishing and doing puzzles.

Survivors include his son, Richard, and his wife, Pamela, of Cambridge; his grandson, Richard Jr., and his wife, Rebecca, of Whitehall; and his great-grandson, Noah. George is predeceased by a brother, Lester Armitage.

Services will be at a later date. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
