George Peacock Obituary
1945 - 2015 SHAFTSBURY Mr. George "Brent" Peacock, 70, a resident of Route 7A died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY. He was born in Troy, NY October 15, 1945. He was the son of George W. Peacock and Pearl H. (Baker) Stergas. Brent received his early education in Shaftsbury and was a 1963 graduate of North Bennington High School. He attended Franklin Institute in Boston, MA where he studied architecture and drafting. He later attended St. Joseph's Business College in Bennington. Mr. Peacock married the former Carol Ann Cummings on June 3, 1983 at the First Baptist Church in Bennington. He founded Brent Peacock Construction on July 8, 1966. Brent was a member of the National Football League Sideline Club and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Boston Red Sox and Arizona Cardinal fan. His pride and joy was his camp in White Creek where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Brent was a generous contributor to the Shaftsbury Methodist Church. He loved spending time in the Southwest. Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Peacock of Shaftsbury; his children, Brent Dana Peacock of White Creek, NY, Bonna-Dee Zazzaro and her husband, Tony of Bennington, Kristen Shortt of Bennington and Duane Shortt and his wife, Arin of Shaftsbury, his grandchildren, Olden Dwyer, Zoey and Amelia Zazzaro and Thea and Grady Shortt; his mother, Pearl Stergas of Bennington, a brother, Duane Peacock and his wife, Ann of Shaftsbury and a sister, Brenda Lewis and her companion, Dave MacLean of Keene, NH along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21 at 11a.m with the Rev. Richard McSherry officiating. The burial will take place in the family lot in the Village Cemetery in Shaftsbury. Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 to 8p.m. If friends desire contributions in memory of George "Brent" Peacock may be made to either the Shaftsbury Methodist Church or the Vermont Diabetes Association through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. Very sorry to hear about Brent...
I used to see him all the time around town. We would stop and talk about all kinds of things. We ran into Carol at the post office ...she told us the sad news...I will miss seeing and talking with him.

Dear Carol and family,
We were shocked and saddened to see Brent's name listed in the memorial in the Greenfield Village newsletter.
Brent was a very special person to us.The work he did was always first class,and always done with a smile.He would stop and have a visit with us when he was going by in his red truck.
We will miss him greatly,and we were happy to have known him.He was an honest and honorable man.
He will be missed in Greenfield Village.

Dear Carol, It was with shock that I discovered the obit. concerning the passing of Brent. He was one of my favorite people and we always shared a great laugh - you may recall that it concerned a dinner invitation that we shared with you and Brent at a "clients home" - we'll leave the name out! Carol; bOB AND i were in shock when we heard of Brent's passing. Bob knew him when he would come to the farm to do work for him. I got to know the both of after Bob and I got married. He did some work for us at the hose. Remember the dinners on Friday nights at the Polish center. His smiles, his funny ways and all his good words will never be forgotten If you were sad he always made you happy. I remember the time he stopped and I was having kidney stone problems, the next day he left me a can of kidney beans and said that would do the trick.the water fight at our house.
God must have called him home to liven the havens, and he will do that.What a great guy and friend. I am happy to have none him. The world won't be the same with out him.We will meet him again some day and he will have a lot of new stories for us.

Dear Aunt Carol, Bona, and Brent-Dana,
I haven't stopped crying since I heard the news. It sadness me that we are so far away during this time. Uncle Brent was my favorite for endless reasons. He was so loving to my grandparents and always looked after them. He made me laugh all the time, he was a constant source of entertainment. The adjectives he would string together in his conversations were one of kind. I have so many memories of him when we were growing up and they bring laughter to my heart and soul. He and I always laughed about a particular event that happened when I was small child and he was visiting us here in Chicago. It was about A parking meter. Over the years we always laughed about that particular event when we spoke. And so now I will think of that often and he and I will share laughter together no matter where he is at. I picture him in heaven dancing in his saddle shoes.
