Harald Henningsen

1929 - 2015 ORLANDO, FL. Harald Frank Henningsen, "Hap", 86, a longtime resident of North Bennington, VT died peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Hunters Creek Rehabilitation facility in Orlando, FL following a brief illness. He was born in Jersey City, NJ February 27, 1929 and was the son of the late Peter and Louise Anton Henningsen. Harald served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Manchester from 1946 to 1948 and later graduated from the University of Vermont in 1952. He made his home in Vermont through 1990 and lived in Pittsford, Shaftsbury and North Bennington. He worked 29 years at Putnam Memorial Hospital (Southwestern Vermont Medical Center) and retired as the Vice President of Finance in 1990. He loved being a part of the North Bennington, Polygraphic Lane community, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his former wife, Janet Henningsen of Indialantic, FL; his five children, Dr. Harald "Chip" Henningsen and wife, Joyce of Celebration, FL; Chris Henningsen and Maria Panyushkina of Celebration, FL; Eric Henningsen and wife, Margie of Kernersville, NC; Peter Henningsen and wife, Charlotte of Orlando, FL; and Dr. James Henningsen and wife, Jeanne of Ocala, FL; five grandchildren, Connor and Laney Henningsen of Celebration, FL, Andrea Henningsen of Atlanta, GA; Dr. Douglas Henningsen of Cary, NC; and Juliana Henningsen of Ocala, FL. In lieu of a funeral service the family asks that you remember Hap and how he made a positive impact in the communities he lived.

Gentlemen, so sorry for your loss. I do miss our youth spent on Polygraphic Lane. It was always a sure sign of spring to see your dad out there chipping ice for the "spring runoff"!

Thinking of you all today and remembering how wonderful it was to grow up on Polygraphic Lane with such special friends and neighbors. Your family is a part of some of my favorite memories, and though many years have passed, I can still picture Mr. Henningsen as I knew him then...he was truly "The Mayor of Poly Lane". I used to enjoy seeing him as I returned to visit my folks with my own family, always catching up on where you all were and what you were doing. My love and prayers are with you all... It's with great sadness to hear of the passing of Mr. Henningsen. Wonderful memories growing up on Polygraphic Lane (The smell of his pipe is one memory that remains with me always)....many hours spent in the Henningson household. May you hold these lifetime memories close to your heart as your navigate the days....weeks...and years to come.
