I came across this archival document - Helen taught Russian on television in New York City in 1958 for St. John's University.

It was just today that I received a message that Helen passed in December.
I was an Administrative Assistant at Connecticut College for twenty-four years. During my last ten years at the college, I worked in Harkness Chapel. After Helen retired, she took organ lessons from Dr. John Anthony. Each week before (or after) her lessons, she would come to my office in the chapel, and we would always have a lively conversation. She had the best laugh.
For many years, she would contact me when her grapes were ripe. I would go to her home in Higganum, and we would pick grapes and have a fine time. I would take the grapes home and make some wonderful grape jelly from her "special French grapes."
I miss her and her wonderful laugh.
I send warm wishes to her family.

Helen was my colleague at Connecticut College, and, like many others, I loved her and respected her deeply. She was generous and brilliant, and I cherish my memories of her. Hers was a life well-lived, and an example of grace.

I always enjoyed and admired Helen's spirit and perserverence in Tai Chi class. We had interesting conversations on the times I drove her home.

Sorry for the loss of your mother but glad she lived well with spunk. I appreciated her hosting me when I visited and rides to Connecticut College.

It was a great joy to study Russian under Professor Reeve. She guided me through my Russian major and year of study abroad, and she inspired me to pursue translation as a career. I am forever thankful to her for that.

I loved my time at Connecticut College and studying with Professor Reeve was one of the reasons. My life is richer for having known her and studied under her.

Rest in peace, Helen. We still have the chairs you gave us, and remember your wonderful conversation and your love of poetry.
