Matthew Philpott Obituary
1968 - 2014 PETERSBURGH, NY Matthew G. Philpott, 45, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, in Pittstown, N.Y. He was the husband of Kristin Philpott of Babcock Lake Road, and the father of Elizabeth, Emily, and Kaitlyn Philpott. Matthew was born on Aug. 29, 1968, in Bennington, Vt., son of George Philpott and the late Patricia Hayes Philpott. He graduated from Hoosick Falls High School and Hudson Valley Community College. Matthew was employed by the Lyons Incorporation in Connecticut. He enjoyed coaching youth teams in the area, playing volleyball with friends, working on fund raising for the Karen McGovern Memorial Fund, and was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. Matthew was a loving husband and father. Besides his wife, children, and father, he is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Cutler, Debbie Surdam, Colleen Wilwol, Carrie Garippa, and Mary Somes, and many nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m., from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at Hoosick Rural Cemetery in Hoosick, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Mains Street in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Karen McGovern Memorial Fund, through the funeral home.

Offering my deepest condolences to all of Matt's family and friends. I only knew Matt recently through Lyons, but had that instant impression of what a great man he was. We frequently spoke of our children as they were in the same age range and I vividly remember how he always spoke highly of his family. I last spoke with him two weeks ago when he was doing his regular sales call, and will always remember his contagious smile. May you be comforted by your many memories of him and know that he will live on in your hearts as he watches over you. God Bless.

I have been friends with Matt since we were in 2nd Grade. Needless to say I have spent much of the past week devastated and distraught that Matt has passed away. I have attended Matt's funeral services and while it is early in my grieving services I also am reflecting on just what an inspiration Matt is and how he lived his life. Matt related very well to a lot of people around the world and he was a very intelligent man. Matt was a great family man and his children and family definitely came first. Matt was a world traveler who could apply what he learned to real life seamlessly. As I continue to grieve please know that Matt's family is in my prayers and if they need anything please contact me. I personally found Matt to be a mentor and an inspiration and now in these days moving forward I intend to honor and celebrate Matt's life by remembering the countless fun times that we had and using the many lessons that I learned from this great man to make my life and the lives of others around me better. I think one of the many great gifts of Matt Philpott is that he strived for success and wanted to make those around him successful as well. My condolences to his family.
