Nancy Frasier Obituary

Nancy M. Frasier

1939 - 2016 Nancy Marie Frasier, a former long-time resident of Elm Street and Park Street, died June 9, 2016, on her 77th Birthday at Fillmore Pond. Born in Bennington June 9, 1939, Nancy was the daughter of the late Alfred H. and Marguerite (Higgins) Taylor. She received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School, class of 1959. Nancy married Edward J. Frasier on August 20, 1960, at St. Francie de Sales Church in Bennington. Ed died September 30, 2006. An accomplished self-taught artist, Nancy excelled in oil painting with a specialty of barns and winter landscapes, many of which grace area homes and offices. She was a participant in local and regional art shows. In later years, Nancy was well known for her House Portraits which were replicas of local homes and landmark buildings in Bennington and throughout the country. As her eyesight diminished, she was, sadly, forced to discontinue her passion for this activity. A Type I diabetic since age eight, Nancy managed her medical problem well and in 1998 she was a recipient of the Joslin Diabetes Center Medal given to those who had survived more than a half-century as a diabetic. Nancy especially enjoyed hosting gatherings for family and friends around her table. She also loved teaching her granddaughters how to cook and spent many hours with them in her kitchen in years past. She enjoyed her many luncheon and dinner outings with friends and former classmates, and her occasional trips to Virginia to visit her sister, Peggy. Survivors include a daughter, Gretchen Frasier Dzedzej of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Philip J. Frasier (Robin Daigneault) of Pownal. She also leaves five grandchildren: Kyrsten Frasier Humphreys, Kasey and Kathryn Frasier, Michael Dzedzej and Sarah Dzedzej Pellicio and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Charles D. (Pete) Taylor (Jane Ryan), Sisters Barbara Taylor Downing (Charles), Beverly Taylor Feeney (James), all of Bennington and Peggy Taylor Jones (Robert) from Virginia. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive along with a very special and devoted friends, Lise Knapp and Andrea White. FUNERAL NOTICE: At Nancy's request, there will be no calling hours. The funeral will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00 a,m. from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church where the Liturgy of Christian Death will be offered. Burial will be in the family lot at Park Lawn Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all levels of staff at Fillmore Pond for the incredible love and support shown to Nancy and her family while she was a resident there. In keeping with Nancy's giving ways, donations in her memory may be made to HIS Pantry at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, 238 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. May God bless you and keep you. We send our deep love and condolences to the Taylor and Frasier families. We have many fond memories of Nancy, Barb and Pete growing up on Lincoln Street with their parents, next to my Aunt and Uncle's home as well as our time at BCHS.

What a lovely woman Nancy was. She was a longtime customer at Evans' News where I work, and even as her vision failed, she continued to come in regularly and shop, especially for carefully chosen greeting cards which I would describe and read to her. One of my most treasured possessions is the gift from my colleagues upon my retirement from teaching at Monument Elementary, as she made a wooden shape painting of our school. I have always loved it, and today, even more. My deepest and most sincere sympathy to you all at this time of such sadness and loss.

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Nancy. No doubt, her spirit, warmth, caring, humor and generosity will live on through her wonderful family and countless fiends. Nancy made us "all" feel like family!

I am deeply saddened by the tragic news of one of my very special friend in life's passing. I will always cherish the memories of those evening get togethers on Elm Street with generous helpings of "the fruit of the grape", as she called it, and and unending supply of laughter. How I miss those days !! Your struggles are now over dear friend and I pray that we will all be together once again when we meet in the after-life to share for eternity a generous helping of laughter. My deepest and sincerest condolences to the entire Frasier and Taylor families with the hope that your memories of her spirit will be forever etched into your minds and hearts. I, for one, will miss her dearly. Rest in peace sweet lady !
