Norman Bentley Obituary

Norman L. Bentley 1941 - 2008 Pownal Norman L. Bentley Sr. 66, died Wednesday Sept. 3 at his residence on Rt. 346 after a courageous battle with cancer. He resided there with his wife Edna Hurley Bentley. Norman was born on Dec. 29, 1941, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., son of the late Ernest and Lydia Thomas Bentley. He attended school in Hoosick Falls and was a veteran of the United States Army. Norman worked at the Bigelow Farm in Crown Point, N.Y. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars, surfing the web and spending time with his family. Besides his wife, he leaves, two sons Norman L. Bentley Jr. and wife Bonnie of Pownal, and Leo Bentley of Bennington, his daughter Cherie Bentley, and friend Shane of Pownal, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Norman is predeceased by a daughter Brenda Bentley, son Ernest Bentley, brother Robert Bentley and a sister Ruth Shaw. FUNERAL NOTICE: Service will be Monday Sept. 8, at 12 p.m. from the MAHAR FUNERAL HOME, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls, New York. Committal services will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal, Vermont. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Cancer Center through the funeral home. (518)686-5123

Its been a long hard journey and you will be remembered forever and ever Norm. To the rest of the family, our hearts go out for you and with Prayers....Stay strong and do what he would like you to do. Enjoy life to its fullest and remember he is with his lost ones family in heaven. We all will meet him there someday.... No more suffering and pain for him. He is with God and happy as hell I am sure.I am soo glad I found him that day on my way to see Eleanor in Mass. She too is gone with God as of 5-07-08...Some one please stay in touch ok....Love,Alice
