Reba Moninger Obituary

BENNINGTON -- A celebration of the life of Reba C. Moninger was held on Sunday afternoon, January 2, 2005, at the First United Methodist Church in Bennington with the Rev. Arthur Hagy Jr., pastor of the Brunswick (N.Y.) United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist for the services was Mrs. Laura Reed. Selected hymns for the services were “Love Divine All Loves Excelling,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “The Hymn of Promise.”

Tributes and remembrances were offered by both daughters, Linda Farrell and Mary Elia.

A time of fellowship followed in the church hall.

The pallbearers for the services included Mrs. Moninger’s grandson Brian R. Farrell and staff members of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Interment took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery on Monday morning where the Rev. Hagy offered the prayers of committal.

Conducting services during the calling hours on Sunday afternoon were members of the Red Mountain Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Several teachers and retired teachers representing the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Bennington Area Retired Teachers Association also attended the services.

Mrs. Reba C. Moninger, 94, a longtime area educator, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Prospect Nursing Home in North Bennington, following a long illness.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.

Mrs. Moninger taught me in Bennington. It was my third grade class at Benn.Elementary in 1965, she had such a way about her.I was new to the school, but she made me feel comfortable and safe there.
