Richard Tinkham Obituary

Richard C. Tinkham

1990;2016 The man. The myth. The legend. Richard Charles Tinkham (Tink), 25, of Hoosick Falls, NY passed away Thursday September 22nd. He is the beloved son of Pam and Rick Tinkham and the brother of Leah Tinkham. He was born on October 13, 1990 in Bennington, VT and graduated class of 2008 from Hoosick Falls Central School. As a child Richards favorite book was "Where the Wild Things Are", he seemed to carry this sentiment with him through out life. Growing up he participated in many extracurricular activities, including: football, baseball, BMX and guitar. He was particularly fond of his cherished Beavers Baseball team and the school trip he took to Italy. He also enjoyed working on cars. For a time, he loved driving his signature "ahooga" truck to school and around town. Although Richard would rather be getting his hands dirty than sitting in a classroom, he excelled in his college education. He graduated cum laude from Hudson Valley with an Associates of Auto-Body-Repair and received a certification from the Modern School of Welding. Richard was a skilled craftsman. He currently worked at Momentive as a union Welder. His creativity and attention to detail shown through in his welding and ability to play pranks (much to the dismay of his sisters boyfriends). As an adult Richard became a bit of an unofficial Hoosick Falls town historian. He appreciated the history of the town and valued the people in it. He remained an active part of the towns social scene by frequently visiting his favorite people and watering holes. Music was also an important part of Richards life, from playing guitar to crowd surfing music festivals, music of all kinds was the soundtrack to his life. He also followed his Uncle Phils' footsteps by racing stock cars. Perhaps his favorite activity was fulfilling a life long dream by enjoying the view from the seat of his Harley along side his biker family. Richard loved his friends, his family, his America and his dogs with ferocity. His selfless nature, kind spirit and tenacity to defend what is right won the hearts of countless individuals. Throughout his life, Richard became the unofficial brother, son and uncle to many. SERVICES: Please join us for a Potluck Celebration of Richards rich and dynamic Life at the Hoosick Falls Armory on Sunday October 2nd from 1 to 5 pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the HAYC 3 suicide prevention program.

Dear Pam, Rick, and Leah.

I do not know your grief because it is so individual and personal; but I do know the extreme pain of a child dying. Courtney was in Leah's class and girl scout troop. Courtney and her boyfriend Ryan died 12 years ago from a car accident. Right now you might be feeling as if there is no way to get through this. If Tony, Colin, or I can help you, please do not hesitate to contact us at anytime of the day or night. We are on face book and can message you our phone numbers. With love, understanding, and sympathy, Rosie, Tony, and Colin Carelli

Pam, Rick and family,

You are at a place that no parent can ever be prepared to experience. The loss of a child is indescribable. Your memories of a life well lived and loved will be with you always, and the love and support of your family and community will be the strength that will keep you going over these painful times.

I hope this passage wil bring you some comfort:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

My deepest condolences to the family for their loss of a beloved son. I did not know Richard, but I work at Momentive and remember when he was born. It was a few months after his birth that his father, Rick Tinkham, was the realtor who sold a house on Wilson Hill Road in Hoosick Falls to my parents. Only a few short years later in Oct. 1994 my father passed and that night there was Rick again, as he was on the volunteer Fire/Rescue squad at the time and consoled our family at that very sorrowful time. I wanted to share this memory with the Tinkham family as it has stayed with me all these years and when I heard the name Richard Tinkham it immediately came flooding back. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.

Dear Rick, Pam and Leah,

We are so sorry for your loss. Words can not express enough condolence, and not enough condolence can lesson your pain. Richard was a great young man and he lived life on his terms. At some point in time down the road, may that bring you comfort, for that is the was we should all live our lives.

Dear Family. I am so terribly sorry for your loss. Your son must have been a wonderful person. I think the loss of one so young is more tragic. Reading from God's Word the Bible helped me so much when my husband passed away. I hope you can have a measure of comfort at this time.

Words cannot express my sorrow in hearing of Rich's passing, nor the sympathy I feel for my friends Pam and Rick as they face the loss of a child. Richard was a kindred spirit with my own son Matthew--friends since kindergarten--shared many the same interests. I've heard fond memories from Matt of the times they shared together. He will be missed. May he rest in peace, and may his family and friends find comfort in their memories of the person he was. My sympathies and prayers...

"Ricardo" was my history student - I particularly enjoyed the way he would grin when teasing! In recent years I would run into him at school or community events and noticed he still had that grin. It pleased me greatly that he would walk over to my seat in the auditorium to have a little visit. It was always very nice to hear about his accomplishments and to catch up. I'll miss seeing him.

Pam, Rick and Leah - I am very sorry for your loss.
