Warren McIntyre Obituary

Warren James McIntyre, Sr. 1933-2012 BENNINGTON Warren James McIntyre, Sr. 78, a resident of North Street in Bennington and formerly of East Dorset, passed away Thursday May 3, 2012 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Warren was born in Tinmouth, Vt., on October 31, 1933 the son of John and Charity E. (Weatherby) McIntyre and attended local schools. Warren worked for Milt Rockwell , Mack Molding, The Hale Company and the Danby Quarry. He worked as a custodian for Currier Elementary School for twenty years and prior to that for Manchester Elementary and Middle School. He was a United States Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a life member of American Legion Post 69 in Arlington and the Fraternal Order of Eagle in Manchester. He was a former member of the East Dorset Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as Assistant Chief. Warren enjoyed taking cruises with a group of his closest friends, deer hunting, fishing, camping and liked everyone he met. Warren was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Manchester. Warren is survived by his son Warren J. McIntyre, Jr. and his wife Darlene of East Dorset, his daughter Diane Tobin and her husband Clayton of East Rupert, his former wife Beth McIntyre of Melbourne, Fla., his brother Wilbur "Bus" McIntyre of Cossayuna, New York, his sisters; Geraldine Towsley of East Dorset, Minerva Baker of Clarendon and Marion Baird of East Dorset, his grandchildren; Valerie, Joe, Jay, Melissa, Warren III, Brian, Jacob, Clayton, Jr. and Robert and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy McIntyre-King, his brother Wilfred "Gus" McIntyre and his sister Clara Ricard. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside funeral services with military honors for Warren will be held Tuesday May 8, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Scottsville-Danby Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.There will be a gathering at the East Dorset Fire House after the funeral services for family and friends to honor his life. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Warren's memory may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund, c/o Brewster Funeral Service P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, Vermont 05255.
