Albert Howcroft

1920 - 2016 Albert Howcroft, 96 of Leola, PA passed away on Oct. 18, 2016. He resided with his daughter Barbara Manwarren and husband Lew Manwarren. He formerly lived in Lockport, NY. Before that he lived at 22 Elm St. Adams, MA for many years. He was born on August 30, 1920 in Adams. He was educated in Adams. He graduated in 1938 at the former Adams School. After High School he served three years at the Naval Reserve. Chief Yeomal Albert J. Howcroft had been stationed at Cold Bay Alaska at one of the most closely guarded secret Navy Base. He was honorably discharged in September 1942. He was employed at Sand Springs for 3 years in Williamstown, Previously he worked at WRGrace/ McDermit in Adams for many years. He enjoyed traveling, bowling and walking. He mostly enjoyed being with his 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was a life long member of St, Marks Church. He was a vestryman and treasurer of Finance committees. He was also treasurer of the former Harmony Credit Union for 25 years. Survivors include three sons, Albert Howcroft Jr. of Amherst, MA, Kenneth and Lisa (Charron) Howcroft of Greenville, TN, William Howcroft and partner Wang Dong of Ferntree Gully, Australia;, three daughters, Barbara Manwarren and husband, Lew Manwarren of Leola , PA, Kathy Frey and husband, Warren Frey of Fort Myers, FL and Judy Williams and partner Matt Straub of Adams, MA He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Mahar) Howcroft, who passed away on Jan. 2, 1980. He was also predeceased by his brother Fred W. Howcroft and infant brother, Robert Luther Howcroft, plus 2 infant daughters. In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lancaster Hospice and Community or the Old Calvary Baptist Church through the funeral home. SERVICES: There are no calling hours. Funeral services for Albert Howcroft will be at Bellvue Cemetery at 11:00 am on Monday, October 24, 2016. Lew Manwarren will be officiating at the graveside service. Afer graveside service everyone is welcome to join the family at 12:30 at the Holiday Inn in North Adams. This will be a time of remembrance.
