Alfred Viner Obituary

Alfred L. Viner of Zephyrhills, FL formerly of Hinsdale, MA died on March 1st at Florida Hospital in Tampa due to complications from a fall. He was 77. Alfred (also known as Mike) was born in Pittsfield, MA in 1940 to Louis Alfred Viner and Mary Seckler Viner. He graduated from Dalton High School and went on to serve in the US Army. Upon his return from the army he settled in Hinsdale later moving to Plainfield, MA and Zephyrhills, FL.

Al spent many years as a teamster driving for N&B Express out of Greenfield, MA. He retired from the teamsters union in 1999. He worked for Bahre's Propane for ten years after moving to Zephyrhills.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Marilyn (Hill) his brother Fred Viner (Judi) of Hinsdale, sister Annemarie Gravel of Hinsdale and brother in law Richard (Gina) Hill. Al is also survived by his six children Michelle Orlando (Blair) of Hinsdale, Deborah Counihan (Tim) of Plainfield, NH, Mike Viner (Sharon) of Hinsdale, Annemarie Garland of Hinsdale, Greg Viner of Hinsdale, and Alfred Viner Jr. (Angie) of Wesley Chapel, FL; two step children, Shawn Mazzer (Peggy) of Greenfield, MA and Michelle (Chris) Streeter of Lakeland, FL, daughter-in-law Colleen Viner of Zephyrhills, grandchildren James, Catherine, Elizabeth, Mary, John, Josephine and Claire Mazzer, Erica Newton, Danni and Gabby Orlando, Isabelle Viner, Alfred Viner III, (Trey) Patience Viner, and Tayah Meattie , several step grandchildren, nephews Chris (Melissa) Gravel of Orlando, FL , Matt Gravel of Dalton, Jenny Hewitt (Jim) of South Royalton, VT, Jeff (Laura) Viner of Hinsdale and several cousins, great nieces and nephews.

Al was a hard working man who liked to live life to the fullest. He had many friends and an infectious spirit. He enjoyed camping and spent many years as a seasonal resident at Peppermint Park in Savoy. He also enjoyed cruises, bowling, playing horseshoes, shuffleboard, cards and football. Al was an active member of St. Joseph's church in Zephyrhills and was an altar server.

He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Mary (Seckler) Viner, his brother-in-law Gerard Gravel, and his grandson, Nate Newton.

A celebration of life mass will be held at St. Joseph's church in Zephyrhills on April 13th with a military service and burial to follow at Bushnell Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.
