Andrew Maguire Obituary

Andrew P. Maguire, 60, of Pittsfield died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center after battling cancer for nine years.

Mr. Maguire was born on September 6, 1961 in Pittsfield, MA to the late Thomas and Delrita Kretsch Maguire. He was a 1980 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School. He attended Berkshire Community College where he obtained his Associate's degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management. Andrew worked as a cook for Berkshire Place for 34 years, until his retirement in 2019. He would visit the residents often to be sure their meals were up to par!

Andrew was an avid bowler, he had previously raced his stock car at Lebanon Valley Speedway from 1984-1988 #328 in street stock division, continued to go to Lebanon Valley to cheer on some family friends who currently race, until last year, which he continued to watch and cheer from home thanks to dirt track digest due to his weakened state, and along with his family, participated in the Relay for Life year after year, which he was very proud of. He also was a member of the Lenox Dale fire department during his high school and college years.

Mr. Maguire was a soldier of the Salvation Army, which he proudly was devoted to, making weekly Sunday dinner meals. He loved his church family.

He married Doris Williams on August 26, 1989 in Lenox Dale, MA.

Besides his wife Doris of Pittsfield, Andrew is survived by his children; Catherine D. Fulks (Andrew), Andrew P. Maguire (Viktoria), and Jason C. Maguire, all of Pittsfield, his sister; Claudia M. Gilbert (Wayne) of Dalton, two grandchildren; Anastasia and Parker, and two grand-dogs; Tiny and Bluey. He also leaves his niece Delrita Fryer (Ryan) and Harley their dog of Hebron, CT and nephew Thomas Gilbert (Shauna) and their daughter Hazel of Seattle, WA.

The funeral for Mr. Andrew P. Maguire will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 3pm at the Salvation Army on West Street in Pittsfield, MA. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the Roche Funeral Home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations in Andrew's memory may be made to the Salvation Army in care of the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Hospice Care in the Berkshires, The VNA of the Berkshires, especially Dawn, the nurses and Dr. Mullally at Hillcrest Cancer center, Dr. McGregor from Dana Farber, and Dr. Hetland, along with the EMTS and firefighters who had helped him over the past month. Also, the ER nurses and Dr's. and nurses from 4th floor at BMC.

Besides his parents and grandparents, he is predeceased by his three brothers- Terrance, Thomas (Butch), and Kevin, and a sister Delrita.
