Angelo Castellano Obituary

Angelo J. Castellano, age 81, of Hinsdale, Massachusetts passed away peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2025.

Angelo was born in Yonkers, New York on January 30, 1944. He was the youngest of 4 children by Anthony J. Castellano and Mary Cipriano Castellano. He had two older brothers, Anthony and Rocco, and a sister, Lucille (Castellano).

Angelo married the love of his life Deborah E. Seiler on April 20, 1985. The two would have celebrated 40 years of marriage this spring.

Angelo graduated from Brewster High School in 1961, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1965. After graduation from UConn, Angelo began work as a Field Engineer Representative for General Electric Ordnance Systems in Pittsfield, MA. Angelo held several individual contributor positions in field engineering, including GE Liaison Representative at Vitro Laboratories and GE Technical Representative for Squadron 16 in Rota, Spain. In 1976, Angelo settled in the Berkshires. and continued working for GE in various field engineering and logistics positions. He ultimately retired as the Manager of Systems Engineering/ Logistics from General Dynamic after 35 years.

Angelo was a well traveled man and avid reader. Before settling in Hinsdale, he lived in California, Hawaii, Virginia, and New Hampshire. He traveled extensively in Spain, visiting the Spanish Riviera, as well as Scotland. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, canoeing, softball, baseball and ice hockey. He was an excellent skater and tutor/coach in sports, teaching his children many skills. He also enjoyed music, playing guitar, and was the owner of many instruments, including acoustic, electric and steel guitars. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, making quick work of them each morning. Angelo was known for his creative building. He also enjoyed hosting friends and family at his home, entertaining them with 4-Channel stereo and homemade sangria.

Angelo was fiercely loyal to his family. He is survived by Deborah, his beloved wife, and his children: David U. Pelkey II, Edward Bridge Pelkey and his wife Jennifer Kimball. His love of his grandchild, Mia Violet Pelkey, was limitless - he was the ultimate doting grandfather, dubbed "Papa." He is also survived by his brother, Rocco Castellano. Angelo is predeceased by his sister Lucille Plummer and brother Anthony Castellano.

Angelo was a man of virtue who provided his family with love, loyalty and wisdom. As his granddaughter Mia wrote in Angelo's last journal "He will be missed."

To Deb and all of Angelo's loved ones, I worked for Angelo at General Dynamics, and he was one of the best, if not the best, manager I ever had. Besides being incredibly smart, he was considerate and he listened.
I hope you many wonderful memories help to ease your sorrow at this difficult time.
