Ann Julia Dugan Langlais

1933 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Ann Julia Dugan Langlais, 81, of 53 Cambridge Avenue, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Albany (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital. Born in Albany on May 4, 1933, a daughter of John and Mary Hickey Dugan, she received a Master's degree in elementary education from the College of St. Rose and a Master's degree in secondary education from Siena College. Ann began her teaching career in Albany. She was later employed by the Pittsfield Public Schools where she taught at Morningside Community School. She transferred to Sacred Heart School in Pittsfield, and concluded her career as principal for six years of St. Agnes School in Dalton. She retired in 1997 with more than twenty years of service. Ann was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church for over 50 years and was instrumental in starting the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel there. She was passionate about her family and helping others, and was a regular volunteer at the St. Joseph's Soup Kitchen. She was a member of the Springside Greenhouse Group. Ann is survived by her husband Raymond Langlais, whom she married on April 23, 1960, at the St. Vincent DePaul Church in Albany, New York. She is also survived by four children, Peter Langlais and his wife, Susan (Bernardo), of Lakeville, Mass., Mary Jean Langlais and her husband, Louis Roderman, of Wilmington, Mass., Michael Langlais and his wife, Anne (O'Neil), of Lee, Mass., and Ann Allen and her husband, Bruce, of Chanhassen, Minn.; her daughter-in-law, Pamela (Kittle) Langlais, of Peru, Mass.; and fourteen grandchildren, James, David, Jack, Daniel, David, Michael Jr., Justin, Sarah, Michaela, Logan, Matthew, Luke, John, and Thomas; as well as four great-grandchildren, Addison, Alastir, Bradley, and Jacob. She was pre-deceased by a son, Joseph P. Langlais; and two sisters, Sister Mary Dugan, and Regina Garner. "If you've ever met or known Ann, you've met and known a beautiful soul." FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 3, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 4 - 7 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to Sacred Heart Church, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, Mass.
