Benjamin Birch Obituary

Benjamin Isaac Birch 1972-2011 READSBORO Benjamin Isaac Birch, 39 of 7053 B Main St., Readsboro, Vt. died unexpectedly on Saturday November 26, 2011 in Readsboro. He was born in Bennington, Vt. on July 28, 1972, son of William E. Birch and Jacqueline (Adams) Howes. He attended Readsboro Elementary School and Whitingham High School. Ben was a "Master Craftsman" and he and his dad shared ownership of Birch Builders in Readsboro. He also assisted his father in the operation of his charter fishing business on Lake Champlain. Ben was a member of the NRA and the Dutch Mountain Hunting Camp. Camp was a place you could call his second home where he was known by his hunting crew as "Buck Shot". He loved the outdoors and had an unspeakable passion for hunting and fishing. Ben was an amazing and devoted father to his son with whom he shared all of his knowledge and dedication for the love of the great outdoors. Another one of his cherished hobbies was gardening and spending time with his partner, Brenda. Survivors include his son, Nicholas Patrick Birch of Readsboro; his beloved companion, Brenda Handy of Readsboro; his father, William E. Birch of Readsboro; his mother and stepfather, Jacqueline Howes and her husband, Jason, of Jacksonville, Vt.; one sister, Abigail Birch and significant other, Brad Bacon, of West Brookfield, Mass.; his nephew, Casey Pillsbury; his stepmother, Burdys Crawford, of Readsboro; his maternal grandparents, James C. Adams Jr. and Shirley (Brown) Adams of Jacksonville; and his paternal grandmother, Barbara (Phelps) Birch, of Readsboro; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his favorite beagles, Jack and Raider. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Clinton Birch Sr. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life for Benjamin Isaac Birch and Tim Alan Bolognani will be held Saturday December 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 70 Marshall St. North Adams, Mass. I think it's been about 20 years since I'd spoken with Ben last. But I'll never forget his zest for life, his warm smile, and some tough battles we fought together in several sports while attending Whitingham High School. And then there were some really crazy and memorable extra-curricular times too... Those were great times...

We'll all surely miss you Ben... But you'll NEVER ever be forgotten. And we'll all do our best to make you proud by living life with tons of zest..., just the way you did. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of Ben's family and friends back 'home'. See you on the other side buddy...

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
