Carol Malone Obituary

Carol A. Malone, 80, of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. She was born to the late Mervin Zink and Cecile St. Jacques Zink in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and moved to the family farm, Windy Acres, in Windsor, Massachusetts in 1953.

While growing up, she was active in 4-H both showing dairy cows and exhibiting clothing and hand-made items in the halls as well as being a member of the Happy Wanderers and earning a trip to the National 4-H Congress.

Upon graduation from Dalton High School in 1959, she worked as a secretary at General Electric until the birth of her first child. She was primarily a homemaker but was active in Windsor activities, including being the secretary to the Board of Selectmen, assisting the tax collector by typing the tax bills, helping plan the Windsor Bicentennial in 1971, and being a member of the Windsor Volunteer Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary. She continued her involvement in 4-H as her children were growing up, being a 4-H leader for a sewing club and a judge at the 4-H Fair. She was also a member of St. Agnes Church and helped on many tag sales and craft fairs throughout the years. She had a love of sewing, knitting and other hand crafts. Carol was a superintendent of the upstairs Adult Hall at the Hillside Agricultural Fair in Cummington, MA. She worked in the cafeterias in the Dalton schools and in the Green Gargoyle shop at the First Congregational Church in Dalton. In 2012, she moved with her husband to Plattsmouth, Nebraska, to live near her youngest daughter and family and continued to volunteer in thrift shops.

Carol leaves her beloved husband, Robert F. Malone, four daughters, Terri Barrett of Clarksville TN, Karen (Dan) Ernst of Littleton, CO, Debbie (Dave) Reeder of Anacortes, WA and Linda (Darrin) Branson of Greenwood, NE. She also leaves six grandchildren, Thomas and Amanda Barrett, Colin Branson, Jessica Branson Willnerd, Kaitlyn and Courtney Ernst as well as six great grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her brother Robert and sister, Shirley. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Pamela.

There are no calling hours. Funeral arrangements were handled through John A. Gentleman Mortuaries & Crematory in Bellevue, Nebraska.
