Charlene Wood Obituary
She was born in Pittsfield, MA on August 1, 1939 to Armand and Claire Ferland Vernier and was a 1957 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Charlene was employed as an assembler at General Electric for many years until her retirement. After General Electric, she worked for several home health care agencies for several years.
She was a member of the Cheshire Lake Association and its secretary as well. She enjoyed traveling in her motorhome with her late companion, Jerry. She most enjoyed spending time at her home on Cheshire Lake, where she has lived since 1982.
Survivors include her son, William H. Wood II, and wife Dawn Christianson of Sparks, NV; a sister, Marcia C. Madison and husband Joseph of North Fort Myers, FL; two grandchildren, Brianna R. Wood and Keegan M. Wood. Her aunt, Juliette Campbell, who made her home with Charlene. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Cindy J. Wood in 2012.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cheshire Fire Department or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.

I am very sorry to hear of Charlene's passing. I worked with her many, many years ago at Bucksteep and it was definitely a summer I'll never forget. Charlene was a firecracker, and loyal. She will be missed.

There are no words to adequately express how I feel right now. I considered Charlene family. We have been through many tough times, but by the grace of God, we pulled through. You'll be deeply missed by not only me, but all those whose heart you touched. We were blessed to have Charlene in our lives. Thanks for the memories.
