Thinking about you all today.
This evening I'll be walking in the Relay for Life for The American Cancer Society at the lake and I bought a luminara candle in Chuck's name. And of course I couldn't forget Tom 'cause you KNOW the two of them are hanging out! :)
It will be placed in a transparent bag with a lit candle and his name on it. At night, the bags light one entire side of the lake and it's gorgeous....perhaps bittersweet would be the more appropriate word. :(
I will be thinking of him shining down on you all.
Hope everything is well...
P.S. Miss you Chuck...

Today is Easter, the first one without you. We celebrated you today at our dinner table and had all your favorite foods. We also so knew there was a big void at the table.Although it was hard we got threw. I can,t begin to imagine the feast and celebration that you had sitting at the Lords table on this Holy Day the resurrection of Christ. You have been gone ten months today and you will always be in my heart. Chuck, you are missed everyday and we always keep you alive from the great memories you have left us with. Always missed and never will be forgotten. I love you, Marty

Marty and kids,
My heart goes out to you at this time, I am so sorry for your loss. Chucky was one of the best people I ever met. You guys were there for me and the kids when Tom passed away, I only wish I could be there for you now. I look back on all the "gigs" we did when I was still a kid singing in a band and can't help but smile - those are the memories I will keep with me forever.
Please know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Marty and Family,
It was a sad day when I received the news of Chuckie's passing. Growing up as next door neighbors in Pittsfield, I think of the many times I would sit on my porch and listen to my brother Irvin and Chuckie talk about their many adventures together and I thought that Chuckie was the kindest and most handsome person I ever saw. That vision will always remain in my heart. Chuckie will be missed but never forgotten. My prayers go out to you and your family.

To The Berkeley Family; I'm sorry to hear about Chucky. He inspired and influenced my music. I picked up a guitar at the age of ten years old and learned music by Earth Wind and Fire, I thank him for that every day when I play my guitar.I thank him for the Cold Duck experience. He will be missed by many.

I had a great visit with Chucky just this past October. It seems like only yesterday that we had a gabfest about his great new Corvette. I speak for all my family when I say his gentle spirit will be misssed. "Dust thout art to dust returneth was not spoken of the soul"
Sorrow, if able to speak, would prove sweeter than the joy of song.

To The Berkeley Family
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our beloved friend, Chuckie. Having been our neighbor and long time family friend, I can say a beautiful part of our family will truly be missed. Take comfort in knowing that we don't say "Good-by" but in stead, "We'll see you later." May you know the peace that surpasses all understanding.

To my Father-in-law,
Yes, you were all that and a bag of chips: great husband, father, grandfather, friend, colleague, musician, tennis player, yada, yada, yada……but you were a great father-in-law too.
It’s tough losing you so early. I was looking forward to you teaching your grandkids, my sons, music. As a drummer I can teach them drums, but as you knew and all musicians know, a drummer is just a guy hanging out with musicians. You were the real deal. You sang at Tonia’s and my wedding, with just 1 lung, and astounded everyone with your “Always and Forever” rendition. And you played all the instruments on the backing track. Incredible.
What little real faith I have left gives me comfort in knowing that you’re now in a better place, without pain, at peace. But I’m disillusioned with religion these days. And this latest event doesn‘t help. They screwed up and read the wrong list or something. You had so much passion for life and so much to offer.
It breaks my heart to see my beautiful wife Tonia and the rest of your family grieve. But, your example will get us through. You overcame a lot and fought, tooth and nail, to the end.
You had a wife and family at a very young age; the odds were against you but you had married well and you overcame those odds. You lost your beloved brother Kenny, but you overcame it. You lost a great job and suffered financial difficulties, but you didn’t let that keep you down. You had problems with your eyesight, went in for an operation to improve it and ended up with it being even worse, but you persevered.
And then came the cancer. An awful disease that many battle and lose to in 1 or 2 years. If folks last 3 or 4 years they are beating the odds: you lasted 7. The doctors called you “question mark”. There was no way, they thought, a man should be looking that great and feeling that good considering the disease. You did look great, ‘til the end, but I surmise you just dismissed the pain more than anyone knew.
That awful disease took your away your passions one by one, the singing and playing your horns, the tennis eventually, and lastly even the ability to polish your coveted corvettes -- but you kept fighting. You fought for your family. Your real passion.
We will persevere because you showed us how. Your passion for life and ability to overcome will truly be an everlasting inspiration.
Thanks Chuck, for everything.
Your son-in-law,
Scott

To the Berkeley family-
Hank Malafronte called me the other day to let me know about Chucky (his Cold Duck Band Name). He knew how much Chucky had meant to me as a young musician and 30 years later, I still am grateful for knowing him and will remember his mentoring forever. For Chucky to take a chance on a 15 year old riding a moped to "Ricos" after school to join his band sums up who he is as a human being. Trusting, caring and inspiring. Even to a stranger.
In fact, I cannot play an Earth Wind and Fire song to this day without thinking about how much he influenced my piano playing.
To all of us back in the 70's whom were fortunate to play with him and Cold Duck, he will always be remembered far more than just our conductor. He was also a true friend and has left his touch with all of us.

To the entire Berkeley family,
I am so sorry. I haven't seen you all in so long, but I will never forget all the wonderful memories you blessed me with from my younger days. Please know that I think of all of you often and you will be in my prayers during this difficult time. I have so much love for you all. And every time I hear the song "Always and Forever" I think of Mr. Berkeley and his big smile. God Bless.

Your love and dedication for one another has stood the test of time and will continue to do so for all eternity, I believe with all my heart that this is so. Marty,
I am terribly sorry for your loss. In this throw away world we live in, you and Chucky had a special bond. The two of you never gave up, never threw it away. A love like yours is almost impossible to find in this day and age. Despite your loss, the love you shared for each other over the last forty years will keep you strong.
Chucky will always be watching over you and taking care of you. It's a shame there aren't more people like the two of you in this world. We all deely feel your loss. Thank you for allowing me the honor to know you both.

To the Berkeley Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy at your time of loss.
Although, I haven't seen Nycole in many years I have fond memories of her and her kids and how much she and Ricky were like brother and sister.
You can all rest a little easier knowing that you had such a great husband, father, brother and friend. You have an angel with you forever !!

We began in Pitttsfield when you were first married and have fun and good memoies. We then went to Indiana several times and what fun and great times we had, we'll never forget. You can back to Pittsfield and how you had such a full house of people who loved going there including ourselves. We treasured those days. Them off to Nashua and still more great memories.
So now farewell to Chuck who's gone ahead preparing a place when we all will be together again. I'll miss you dearly. We will all take care of Marty, Love Pete and Christine

Chuck,
I’m so sorry this happened to you. Words cannot express the pride and admiration I feel when I think of you. Your perseverance has been something I’ve always tried to emulate (but with only some success). I look up to you and will try to be more like you. I’m going to do my best. (That’s what you’d say).
I wish we could have spent more time together but regardless of spending a day or an entire weekend, it never mattered whether we did something or not. Just the fact that we were hanging out was enough.
Not a day will go by when I won’t think of the day you left us as you displayed such dignity. I was honored to have fulfilled your wish to be by your side. I know in my heart that you waited until Kenny could come to get you on his 27th anniversary. I hope that when my time comes that you both can come for me…and bring Ma. :)
I love you Chuck and I will miss you. Rest in Peace my brother…

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'd like to share this poem with you :
We thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
We thought of you yesterday,
and days before that to.
We think of you in silence,
We speak your name with pride,
and we relive our memories
of living side by side.
Your memory is our keepsake
with wich we'll never part.
God has you in His keeping ----
We have you in our heart.
My thoughts and prayers are with you .

No words can express how sorry I am that you have lost such a phenominal man. I join you in your pain and heartache. We're not sure why things happen this way, but may you try and find comfort with all the wonderful memories you have. And I know you have many!!! I know Chuck was a good man and he will be sorely missed.
There's no more suffering for him now and God has taken him under his wing and he can fly free like the Angel he was. He is with Kenny and his Mom and I know they will take good care of each other. I can see them all cruising around in the Vette now! :)
Keep on "jammin'" in Heaven Chuck and please say hello to Tom for me.
