Right now there is a very large dark cloud spewing gobs of rain which we very much need. I love the smell that it brings and when I stepped outside on the porch I noticed the silphium ,a mammoth plant that dances about in a strong wind, flinging and juggling its myriad sunflower-like heads at impossible angles. When fully grown, it´s simply enormous and Christopher loved it. He asked if my wife, Barbara, might gift him one which, of course, she did and he planted it in his garden in Interlaken. I think it reminded him of the Edward James´ sculptures which would also dance in the fierce winds down in Xilitla.
Ah, Don Cristofero, now would be the hour of the first libation, if memory serves, and the beginning of the evening´s journey. To where, one never knew; but we were off, drink in hand, laughing cast-aways from some forgotten era with a penchant for the impish and the naughty. Joyous adventures aplenty. And there were, to be sure, the somber and the tough times too. Peu importe. All dealt with in one fashion or another. But it was the laughter we both relished most. And this evening it is your company I miss, old friend - and will no doubt for the remainder. Que te vaya bonito, compadre.

The guest below mentioned that Mr. Owen's style was reflected in the Talbo car that he owned for 18 years. I purchased his Talbo last week, and as I wait for it to arrive in Texas, I am trying to learn a little about Mr. Owen as I take the baton as steward of this fine automobile. Given the style of this car, it is not surprising that he was an architect and art collector. I would be happy to hear any recollections his friends and relatives may have about Mr. Owen and this particular car. C.L.H. CraigHopkins.com

A true car guy. I was at the AMELIA ISLAND CONCOURS when i spoke with him at the auction. He had a nice collection and the TALBO he owned was truly his style.

I loved Christopher's zest for life, and I have a major regret.. I never made it to his house in San Allende, and his persistent invitations were always met with ... "Not this year, but next". Well, "next" sometimes is too late, and I missed an opportunity for a real exchange with Chris on many shared topics. I will miss him,. and his remarkable grace.

I first saw Christopher in Charlotttesville, Va. in 1956. As a new student at UVa. I saw this vision in a white turtle neck sweater and tweet sports coat driving a vintage MGTC on Rugby Road in Charlottesville. As a kid from New Orleans, I said. "Toto, we're not in Kansas any more" . This was something o ut of the Great Gatsby.
Later on we became friends, since we were both in the Architectural School. I have been friends with Christopher for over 60 years. After graduation from UVa., I have spent many happy hours with Christopher, in New York and in Mexico. We called him Kit. He spent many a day at my home in Texas and I enjoyed many a time in San Miguel with him. I am in shock over his passing. I will miss him immensely.

This is a lovely remembrance of Christopher. It captures his unique and generous spirit. I was glad to learn about all of his accomplishments and his many talents. Christopher's stories and his graciousness are missed at SC&T. I will especially miss the twinkle in his eyes. I send my heartfelt condolences.
