Clifford Spence Obituary
1933 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Clifford Howard Spence, 81, of 471 West Street, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at his home. Born in Swedesboro, N.J., on July 15, 1933, the son of Isaac and Mayme Mills Spence, he was a high school graduate. He served with the United States Army. A cook for more than 40 years, Mr. Spence had been employed by Rutgers University, Princeton University, Lawrence Prep School. After coming to The Berkshires, he was employed by Camp Half Moon, Hillcrest Commons, Mount Greylock Extended Care, and Curtis Manor. He enjoyed drawing. Mr. Spence leaves his wife, the former Margaret Solomon, whom he married July 15, 1978. He is also survived by four daughters, Valerie Lacy of Watchung, N.J., Deborah Gains of Willingboro, N.J., Elsie Moore of Pittsfield, and Althea Pazacic of Leesburg, Va.; a son, Charles Moore of Pittsfield; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who reside in the South. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Clifford Howard Spence will be private. There are no calling hours. The DERY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.

I have wonderful memories of working with Cliff at High Point School in the 1980's. He was great with the students and always offered up fabulous food for all. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
