Constance Yannone Obituary

Constance "Connie" Dillon Yannone, 90, a lifelong resident of Pittsfield, died Monday, November 4th, 2024 at The Landing at Laurel Lake. Born in Pittsfield on December 22, 1933, daughter of Robert and Madeline Discoe Dillon. Her husband of 61 years, George F. Yannone (Skitch) whom she married August 18, 1956 in St. Mary the Morningstar Church, died March 20, 2018.

She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School. Continuing her education, she graduated from Berkshire Community College in 1984 with an associate degree in Business Communications. Mrs. Yannone's working career included a combined 23 years of data processing for General Electric, Martin Marietta, and secretary to the Business Division at Berkshire Community College.

Connie was a proud life-long Democrat and believed that "we are our brothers' keepers", and that "all people should be encouraged and enable to reach their full potential". In 1953, Connie was named Pittsfield Winter Carnival Queen. Some of Connie's favorite pastimes that she enjoyed so much, were writing "Letters to the Editor" for the Berkshire Eagle, along with traveling with her husband Skitch, to Italy, Ireland, and New Orleans. She also enjoyed flower gardening.

Above all things, Connie's greatest joy was her family, and being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, (Nana), and great grandmother.

Mrs. Yannone is survived by her son Joseph Yannone, (wife Becky), of Pittsfield. Her daughter Lisa Yannone Welch of Lenox. 5 grandchildren, Joseph M. Yannone (wife Laurie), Mark J. Yannone, and Emily Coppola (husband Dom). Dillon J. Welch, and Jesse D Welch, (wife Natasha). Seven great grandchildren, William J. Yannone, Benjamin G, Yannone, Luca A, Coppola, Kyley Wagoner, Kevin Welch, Tony Beebe, and Andyn Beebe. Connie is also survived by her brother Tom Dillon.

She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Robert B. Dillon, Daniel C. Dillon, and her sister Betty Powell.

Connie's family would like to acknowledge the loving care she was given during her time at the Landing at Laurel Lake. She considered this her home.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services for Connie Dillon Yannone, will be held Saturday, November 9th, at 11am, at The Dery Funeral Home with Reverend Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor of St. Agnes Church, Dalton, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, or to the Alzheimer's Association, both in care of The Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.

Sorry to read of Connie's passing. I worked with her at Berkshire County Savings Bank in the early 70's. She was such a sweet lady and years later whenever I would see her we laughed about our days at the bank. My thoughts are with all her family.
