David Forrest Obituary

David "Dave" Forrest passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, after a long illness, and just one week shy of celebrating his 70th birthday.

Born in Pittsfield, MA, on June 23, 1954, the son of the late John E. and Eileen Callaghan Forrest, he attended St. Mary's the Morningstar School and graduated from St. Josephs High School in 1973. Later, Dave received his B.S. from UMASS Amherst and then his MBA from Western New England College.

Dave found success in his 35-year career at General Electric, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics, where he worked as a contract administrator and program manager. His responsibilities included frequent travel to Washington D.C where he established excellent, effective business relationships with client Strategic Systems Program executives affiliated with the United States Navy.

He was a good man and devoted father. While Dave will be sorely missed by all of those who were blessed to have known him, he will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity and vibrant sense of humor.

Dave leaves behind his wife, Candice Forrest, his three sons, Patrick, Daniel and David Forrest and their mother Karen Reilly, and his grandson Reilly Forrest. He is survived by his brother John Forrest and sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jerry Concannon. Dave also leaves behind his lifelong and devoted friend, Terry Miller, along with many other friends and relatives.

I´m so sorry to learn of Dave´s passing. I worked with him for many years at Defense Systems.

He was not one to brag about his accomplishments so I suspect many were (and are) unaware of the value that he brought to the Defense System business.

So I would like to say that he made many significant contributions to the business and to the success of those individuals who worked with him. I know that I benefited from his support and business contributions.

Dave always conducted himself at the highest levels of integrity and fairness, making him someone sought after when business teams were being formed.

I´m thankful for having been part of his journey.

I knew Dave best through friends and neighbors who attended St. Joe. Never saw much of him after college, but when I did he was still the very same, jolly and kind red headed kid I knew from a lifetime ago.

Sad to think I wont run into him again ... but pleased I did from time to time.

All the very best to his family going forward, he was a fine person !
