Doris Weisbuch Soman

Doris Weisbuch Soman was born in 1940 in Great Neck, N.Y., to Shirley Jane Mayers and Manuel Weisbuch, step-daughter of Edith Glodt Weisbuch. She was a loving and devoted mother to Sophie Soman and the late Sylvie Soman. She was an animal lover and breeder of pedigree Boxers, a supporter of liberal causes, and a champion of local community projects. She was an avid reader, as well as an enthusiast of music and art. She died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the age of 73, in Boston in the presence of her loving family.

She was a retired psychotherapist, a graduate of Dana Hall School, Williams College, and Antioch College. She was a skillful flutist who played at Tanglewood, as well as an accomplished gourmand who studied at the famous Cordon Bleu cooking school in France.

She is survived by her daughter Sophie Soman of Charlestown, Mass.; her sister, Betty W. Stone of Manchester and Cambridge, Mass., her brothers, Paul D. Berman of Manhattan, N.Y., Jonathan B. Weisbuch of Phoenix, Ariz. and Canaan, N.Y., and many nephews and great nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service for Doris Soman will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East Street, Pittsfield at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery with the Rev. Peter Elvin officiating. There will be a reception following at the Crowne Plaza at One West Street in Pittsfield.
