Dorothy Reimer Obituary

NORTH ADAMS -- Dorothy Helen Reimer, 81, of 56 Central Ave. died Wednesday evening, Nov. 26, at North Adams Commons, where she had resided since March 2002.

Born in North Adams on July 18, 1922, daughter of Stanley and E. Vera Ashton Phelps, she was a 1940 graduate of Drury High School.

She had been employed at the state Department of Employment and Security for 28 years, retiring in 1988 as senior interviewer.

Mrs. Phelps was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, North Adams, where she was a member of its choir and women's fellowship. She also participated in various other activities at the church.

Her husband, Morton S. Reimer, whom she married Nov. 4, 1944, died Dec. 1, 2000.

She leaves two sons, Douglas M. Reimer of Las Vegas and Keith Reimer of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Dale Bona of Clarksburg; a brother, Donald Phelps of Cheshire; a sister, Betty Dougherty of Bayville, N.Y., five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Dorothy Helen Reimer will be Saturday, Nov. 29, in the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 5 to 8 at the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. She leaves her grandchildren, Carrie Bona of Lenox Dale, Justin Reimer and Chase Reimer, both of Garland, Rebecca Reimer and David Franz, both of Las Vegas, and a great-granddaughter, Dorothy Elliot of Las Vegas.
