Douglas Ackley Obituary
1942-2013 PERU Douglas G. Ackley, Sr., 70, of 80 East Main Road, Peru, died Monday, January 14, 2013.
Born in Dalton on June 19, 1942, the son of John and Winifred Cannom Ackley, he was educated in Dalton schools and continued his education to earn a master's degree.
A Viet Nam War veteran, Mr. Ackley served two tours of duty with the United States Army as a member of the Green Berets.
He was a plant manager for G.E. in Pittsfield. He was also a stained-glass designer.
Mr. Ackley is survived by a son, Douglas G. Ackley, Jr., of Arlington, Mass., and a daughter, Domonique Ackley, of Peru, Mass.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services for Douglas G. Ackley, Sr. will be held Saturday, January 19, at 10 a.m. at Pittsfield Cemetery. The DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.

Tom Raimer and I, Nancy wish to send out deepest condolences to Dougs family. Many years ago, Doug married Tom and I in a civil ceremony . He had become an Internet minister and he used his new found interest to perform a unique ceremony for Tom and I. It was a bit unconventional but entirely legal. We all shared an interest in HD's and enjoyed the occasional "run" with him and mutual friends. It was many years ago but have kept him in our hearts and memories. He will be missed and will have a permanent place in my prayers .
