Douglas Swint Obituary

Douglas P. Swint, 93, of Pittsfield, MA passed away peacefully October 21, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Born on December 17, 1931 in Albany, NY to the late Viola (O'Brien) and Joseph Swint, he attended Albany High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. Doug went to Albany Business College where he received a BA in Business. Doug worked for G.E. as a computer operator for 30 years. He met the love of his life Amelia M. Jason and they were married in 1958.

A lover of life, learning, and health, he took up various activities after retiring, including skiing, biking, learning 5 languages, playing the organ and traveling. Doug and Amy enjoyed country western dancing, traveling to different countries with their church group and cruises. In their later years they enjoyed visiting Maine often. He was a Boston Red Sox fan and watched numerous games with Amy. He had a huge love for music and would sing to anyone who would listen, even in his dying days. He was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Teresa's Church and then St. Charles Church.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Amelia M. Swint. He is survived by his beloved children: Christine Malikowski and Steven, Paul Swint and Laurie, Sandra Kupperblatt and Tim, Deborah Levy and Nick, and Eileen Swint; 7 grandchildren Katie Dahlen and Jim, Steve Malikowski and Ciara, Michael Swint and Ciera, Lynn Kupperblatt and Kevin, Evan Kupperblatt, Tyler Levy and Jessica, and Lauren Levy; 5 great grandchildren Angie, AJ, Hannah, Amelia and Theodore; a niece Karen Martel and his two grand dogs, Traveler and Molly that he adored.

Doug's family would like to thank all that have been involved in caring for him, the loving staff and aides at Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place, our private aide Michelle, and HospiceCare in the Berkshires.

Funeral services will be private with burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. To view full obituary please visit www.DeryFuneralHome.com
