Edward J. Forget

1927 - 2016 Mr. Edward J. Forget, age 89, of Patton Rd. Richmond, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 5th. He was born in Pittsfield in Pittsfield, April 3, 1927, the son of the late Mathias and Yvonne Forget. He attended the local schools and was a graduate of St Joseph's High School. Continuing his education, he graduated cum laude, from the present Western New England University and the G.E. Apprentice Drafting Program. Employed at the General Electronic Co. for 41 years, retiring in 1987. At that time he was a manager in the quality control section of G.E. Aerospace Division for the past 18 years. Since his retirement, he has been involved as a quality control consultant with Dayton Aerospace Associates in the evaluation of military contractors throughout the U.S.. A U.S. Army Signal Corps veteran of the Korean War, he served for 2 years prior to his discharge. Ed was very active in a variety of professional and community activities including, serving as Past President of the Berkshire Quality Consultants, a member of the American Society for Quality Control, and as a Quality Auditor. A 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a long time member of St. Patrick's Church in West Stockbridge was he served as a lector, a Eucharistic Minister and as a choir member for many years. As a resident of Richmond, he had been a Volunteer Fireman and a member of the School Committee for six years, three of which as chairman. Additionally, he served as chairman of the PTO and the Richmond Civic Association. His wife, the former Therese M. McKeever, whom he married Sept. 15, 1951, died Nov. 14, 2014. He is survived by 2 daughters, Julie H. Forget of Northampton, and Michelle M. Allen of Richmond, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter, his sister, Mrs. Loretta Duval of Lenox and several nieces and nephews. His son, Robert E. Forget, died in Feb. 14, 1987 as well as his sister Mrs. Dorothy Paud of Walthom, who predeceased him FUNERAL NOTICE: Forget, Edward J., age 89, died May 5th. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be SATURDAY, May 7th beginning at 9:30 am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at St. Patrick's Church with the Rev. Msgr. John J. Bonzagni , pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Richmond Volunteer Fire Dept. in care of the funeral home

So sorry to hear about your father.

I was sad to see this today. Mr. Forget was my first boss I ever had when I first entered General Electric. He was a kind man and always so nice to me. I am very sorry for your loss. The one thing I so remember was he loved his children so much.
