Edward John Saviski

Edward John Saviski 1927 - 2009 PITTSFIELD Edward John Saviski, 82, of 88 Velma Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 17, at Hillcrest Commons where he had resided the past two months. Born in Adams, Aug. 15, 1927, son of Stanislaus and Victoria Gimalowski Saviski. He was educated in Adams Schools and was a 1945 graduate of Adams High School. A veteran of the Korean conflict, Mr. Saviski served as a Technical Sergeant with the Army. He served an 11 month tour of duty overseas, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, received the Purple Heart and received two Bronze Service Stars. Mr. Saviski was last employed as a draftsman with Clarke-Aiken in Lee from where he retired in 1989. Prior to that, he had worked for E.D. Jones. He was a former member of the Berkshire Hillsmen. He enjoyed Polish music, bowling, fishing, and golfing, and his pets. Mr. Saviski leaves his wife, the former Dolores I. Harter, whom he married June 13, 1953, in North Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Steven E. Saviski, and his wife, Angel, of North Lawrence, N.Y., Mitchell A. Saviski, and his wife, Mary Jo, of Pittsfield, Ned A. Saviski of Dalton; four daughters, Susan J. Pilling, and her husband, Brian, of Corolla, N.C., Sandra L. Haywood, and her husband, Neil, of Interlaken, Mass., Leslie J. Loftus, and her husband, Richard, of Pittsfield, and Cheryl B. Sandy, and her husband, Scott, of Pittsfield; 17 grandchildren, Mandalinne Saviski, Jonathan Saviski, Jennifer Leight, Marcie Pilling, Bridgette Styczynski, Callie Pilling, Michelle Saviski, Missy Saviski, Adam Haywood, Eric Haywood, Ashlynn Haywood, Ricky Loftus, Amanda Loftus, Chelsea Saviski, Connor Baird, Jasper Sandy, and Cassidy Sandy; as well as her sister-in-law, Pearl Sharples of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Edward John Saviski, who died Thursday, Sept. 17, will be private. Burial will be at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Saviski may be made to Berkshire Humane Society in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
