ADAMS -- Frances J. Zabek, 84, formerly of 3 Myrtle St., died Friday at Island Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeville. She moved to Lakeville in 2004 to be close to her family.
Born in Adams on March 7, 1923, daughter of Frank and Blanche Mikuszewski Czechowski, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Zabek was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for many years, retiring 20 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality.
She enjoyed flower arranging and taking daily walks.
Her husband, Adolph J. "Jimmy" Zabek, whom she married Aug. 27, 1945, died Aug. 8, 1970.
She leaves a son, Brian Zabek of Rehoboth; a daughter, Sandy Bacon of Marshfield; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Frances Zabek, who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Members of the St. Stanislaus Rosary Sodality will meet at the funeral home Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. to recite the rosary and pay their respects. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations made to St. Stanislaus' Church through the funeral home. She also leaves her son's companion, Prudence Stoddard; a son-in-law, Robert; two granddaughters, Marnie Bacon and Kezia Bacon-Bernstein and her husband, Chris; a great-grandson, Abel Bernstein; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Her sister, Genevieve S. Brodalski, died May 21, 2004.
