We wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to Jinx's family. His love and pride when it came to his children was always clear. We hope that warm, happy memories will comfort you. We worked with Jinx on the Teachers' Negotiation team. He was a wonderful combination of advocate for educators and entertainer. We left Pittsfield in the early 80s. Never forgot Jinx. Never met anyone like him. RIP, Jinx

To the Principe Family,
I am sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Principe, my Algebra teacher at North Junior High School. Mr. Principe was quite gifted with the English language and I, to this day, use one of his many quips. He once admonished a class mate for his lack of decorum stating "you have as much self control as diarrhea". Who could ever forget a man with that gift of language.

Jinx was my homeroom teacher at North Jr. High back in 1960 & I worked with him at PHS for about 20 years! Also ,went on a few convention trips with him! He was a great guy & very funny with his corny jokes! The creatures of the night will miss him dearly,as will many others. He will never be forgotten!

As a fellow teacher and local union president, I send condolences to members of Jinx's family regarding his recent passing.
I only met Jinx once, when I began my teaching career and subbing for another colleague at North Jr. HS. I also grew up in Pittsfield, taught at St. Joe, and finished my career in the Monroe -Woodbury School District.
In my role as local union president and later state union member of the Board of Directors for NYSUT, I had the opportunity to have a long talk with David Eng Wong, one of our labor relations specialists.
Knowing that David had previously worked for NEA, I asked him if knew the local president for the Pittsfield Public Schools. He did. It was Jinx!!
David praised Jinx profusely for his advocacy for his fellow teachers and his leadership of the PFT.
We never know how our lives are interconnected until we do.
He was a fine man who served both his students and his members well. May he rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss. Mr. Principle was a great teacher and I was lucky to have him as my math teacher 3 times. He was my math teacher in 7th and 8th grade at North Jr. High and 12th grade at Pittsfield High. He was a kind and patient teacher, which made him one of the best. He could teach the math-illiterate like me. RIP Mr. Principe.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Jinx. It has been a long while since we crossed paths ( photo shared was from an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party at Mission in 2010) Every time I saw him I would ask for him to tell me his newest jokes. Where his enthusiasm woukd quickly draw a crowd. It always amazed me how he remembered some of those longer ones! I hope your memories and hearing some like mine will bring comfort to you during this time.

My condolences to Mr. Principe's family. When I had him as a teacher at PHS I was not a great student and had a horrible attitude. He didn't take any of my crap and over the years after I grew to like him very much. I'd inevitably run into him when I was home visiting Pittsfield and love chatting with him every time. He taught me a lot (not just math). The world has lost one of the good ones. He will be remembered and greatly missed. Rest in Peace Jinx
