Born in Pittsfield on May 13, 1934, son of Irving and Stella Champlin Sheldon, he attended local schools.
He was employed by GE as a steamfitter in the power transformer division for 25 years, retiring in 1990.
He was an active member of the local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 47 years.
He and his wife, the former Eileen Losee, were married May 4, 1952, in South Congregational Church. They moved to Windsor in 1959.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Reginald Sheldon of Brunswick, N.Y., Randy Sheldon of Northampton and James Sheldon of Windsor; a daughter, Karen Cunningham of Richmond; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- James I. Sheldon, 69, died in Pittsfield on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 235 Dalton Division Road, Dalton. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pittsfield Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses or to the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department in care of the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
