John Caurant Obituary

John Louis Caurant 1924-2009 LENOX John Louis Caurant, 85, of Walker Street, died October 11, 2009 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Lenox March 23, 1924, the son of John Y. and Frances Dufleid Caurant, he attended schools in Lenox Dale and Lenox Mr. Caurant served in the Navy during World War II. He was employed as a Master Mechanic with operating Engineers Local 98 for many years retiring in 1978 due to ill health and was a member of that union at the time of his death. Mr. Caurant also worked at Cranwell Golf Course as a greens keeper as a boy and also as a caddy for the late Mrs. Harold Duffin and the Edward Cranwell family. He also had been a Stock Car driver during the late 1940's and 1950's at State Line Speedway in Vermont, and Route 66 Speedway and Lebanon Valley Speedway, both in New York State. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Caurant of Northampton and Debra Beaulieu of South Hadley; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Hughes of California. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of John L. Caurant of Lenox will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at ROCHE FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Deb, Beth and families,

Your father and my father grew up together and were friends for years and years. We used to go to Lebanon Valley every time your father raced his car. I saw Dynamite quite a while ago and was surprised that he remembered me. Had not seen him in years. I am so sorry for your loss.
