John Gould Obituary

John T. Gould (Jack), 78, passed away at his home in North Adams, MA on December 17 after a 3+ year battle with cancer. He was born on June 20, 1944, to John Gould and Helen Reardon Gould. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School in 1962 and attended the University of Notre Dame. He first worked for Colonial Brush in Boston as a manufacturing accountant. He returned to North Adams to raise his family with his former wife, Jacqueline Dupuis Jette, and worked for Arnold Lumber in Adams. He then managed the home center at KK Home Mart for several years. He was last employed at the North Adams Housing Authority. Jack came out of retirement briefly as the Director of Louison House as they searched for and trained a new Director.

Jack served as President of Northern Berkshire United Way for a two-year term as well as holding several other positions as Vice President. Until recently, he was President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He also volunteered at the Northern Berkshire Scenic Railway as a conductor and narrator. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish serving as sacristan until recently. For years Jack also served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and trained altar servers. In addition to his volunteer work, Jack enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, and creating elaborate landscapes for his model trains, "Go Irish".

Jack was predeceased by a son John and a daughter Kathleen. He leaves a daughter, Jennifer Casey (Robert Wolfinger) of Pittsfield, a son, Robert (Caren Nessen) of New Zealand, and two grandsons Richard Casey and Nicholas Lopenzina, both of Pittsfield. He also leaves two sisters, Mary Boulger of North Adams and Eileen Lane of Plymouth, MA; five nieces Carolyn Karlson, Ellen Lane, Sharon Wallace, Michele Baird, and Catherine Dupuis Parker; and five nephews Richard and Patrick Boulger, Brian Lane, and Michael and Marc Dupuis; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral Home West Chapel will be held on Wednesday, December 21 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in North Adams MA.
