It's hard to believe it has been almost 10 years. I can still see him shaking the "beverage" can and getting the last drops out. Rest in peace, John.

Back in the early 1970's, I was a special ed teacher at Armory School. There was a first grader at Carew St. that could use some help. The powers that be decided he should take a bus up Carew St by himself. I was worried about a six yr old doing this but we tried it. Mr. Lily drove his car behind the bus for a week watching how the child did. He then decided it was too dangerous for a small child to do this by himself so he squashed the idea. I was always impressed by his committment to the children in his school. I am sorry for your loss.

John Lilly was a true gentleman and a good friend. He brought much happiness to my late sister, Bunny Murphy. They enjoyed each others company whether it was on the golf course or out having dinner. After my sister passed away, I had no reason to visit Springfield but I kept in contact with John via telephone and spoke with him every other month or so. He wil be sorely missed.

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers at this time. I am the oldest of the 10 children of Richard and Mabelle Meade. John Lilly will be remembered in our family as a wonderful man. From early childhood Dad would tell us family stories that included the Lilly family. I have wonderful treasured memories of John, Helen and Jane Marie and the trips to camp back in the 1950's. These past years John has called Mom at Christmas time and they would catch up on family news. She will miss those calls. Our love to you all.
