Jonathan Peter Maynard
PITTSFIELD Jonathan Peter Maynard, 45, of 15 New Hampshire Avenue, Pittsfield, a Lanesborough native, passed away Saturday, December 5, at Berkshire Medical Center after being stricken with an apparent heart attack.
Born in Pittsfield, March 14, 1964, a son of Richard and Janet Poirier Maynard, of Lanesboro, he was educated in Lanesborough and Pittsfield schools and was a 1982 graduate of Taconic High School. He continued his education at Springfield Technical Community College from where he graduated in 1984 with an associates degree in Advanced Metal Machine Technology.
At the time of his death, Mr. Maynard was a manufacturing engineer with Bicron Electronics where he had worked for ten years in manufacturing and engineering. For ten years prior, he had been employed by General Electric Company in both Pittsfield and Schenectady. Before that, he had worked for Crellin, Inc., in Chatham, New York, for five years.
Mr. Maynard was a former member of the Lanesborough Volunteer Fire Department. Through his duty there, he saw the importance of being an organ donor and became one himself.
He is remembered as a devoted dad who enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and riding bicycles with his daughters, and camping on Cape Cod.
He also enjoyed playing billiards, golfing, and while in college, enjoyed playing tennis.
Besides his parents of Lanesborough, Mr. Maynard is also survived by two daughters, Caitlin A. Maynard of Pittsfield and Danielle N. Maynard of Pittsfield; a brother, Stephen R. Maynard of Lanesborough; two sisters, Deboral A. Cotter of Lanesborough, and Lynn M. Gajewski of Lititz, Pennsylvania; nine nieces and nephews and a great nephew; as well as his former wife, Betsy L. Maynard of Pittsfield, and his best friend, David Garbarsky, of Pittsfield, who was like another brother to him.

To the Families/his daughters and Friends
I was and still am shocked to learn of Jon's passing. Words are very inadequate to express the pain everyone must be feeling at this time. Jon was a funny, outgoing and very honest person (if you asked his opinion-too honest). A good person to have on your side.
Jon will be missed by many at Bicron as a friend and a co-worker

I am so sorry for the Maynard family's loss. I went to machine shop at Taconic h.s. with jon, we had a good time hunting with the group of us from school. Now 20+ years later he was at my shop, having us do work for Bicron. It was nice to see him after all these years. My thoughts are with all of you.

To the Maynard Family,
I am so very sad for your sudden loss. Jon was a good friend and a good man. We worked together at Bicron for 10 years and would often speak of our families. Jon loved his daughters and was so very proud of Caitlyn and Danielle. We would speak about Caitlyn's running and Danielle's soccer and all the trials and tribulations of girls as I have a daughter too. But through it all his love for them showed. We shared a lot of fun times at work and kept each other up to date on the happenings of teenage girls whether it be the new hot group and getting those Fall Out Boy, Jonas Brother, etc tickets for the girls or talking about trips to the Cape. As Jon would speak of Caitlyn and Danielle his pride and joy showed through. He had so many hopes and aspirations for them both. He appreciated the love and support of his family and friends.
Jon was funny and to point. If you really didn't want to know what he thought then you shouldn't have asked in the fist place. Jon would greet me in the morning with the words "Are you going to to something today?" and with that I would usually reply "Only if you do something first" With this he would have his cup of coffee in hand and I would say "Hey where is my coffee?" A few times he remembered and brought me in a cup. Jon would always ask me how I "landed the easy jobs". I will miss that. Jon made the day go by a little faster and a better each and every day. There are so many memories of Jon, far too many to write down but that will stay with me forever.
Jon was a good, caring, and decent person who is gone too soon. He is a friend who will be missed by all who knew him and I am happy that I got the chance to know him.
Sincerely,
Leigh Forfa
