ROBERT "BOB" CHARLES MAYNARD, age 89, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Chagrin Falls with his family on March 14, 2026. Born on October 10, 1936 in
Cleveland, Ohio to William and Cecilia (nee Collins). Beloved husband of Agnes (nee Sperie) for 64 years. Loving father of Robert Maynard (Michele), Marguerite Norchi (Kevin) and Christopher Maynard (Kristin). Devoted grandfather of Colin, Emily and Megan Maynard; Kevin, Kathleen and Ryan Norchi; and Caden Maynard. Dear brother of Mary Jean, Martha and Billy (all deceased). Loving uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was a third-generation Clevelander. He was a proud graduate of Youngstown Ursuline High School. He received his undergraduate Bachelor's degree from John Carroll University and his Bachelor of Laws and his Master of Laws degrees from Georgetown University Law Center. His distinguished law career spanned over five decades, highlighted by his tenure as managing partner of a multistate law firm and serving as President of the Defense Research Institute, a national civil defense lawyer organization. He joined the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine in ministry for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of St. Vincent Charity Hospital and served as Chair of the Board. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Sisters of Charity Health System and served as General Counsel of the Health System from 2001 to 2012.
Bob was involved in numerous professional and civic activities, and he received many awards. He was most proud of the 2012 St. Thomas More Award, given by the Lawyers Guild of the Diocese of Cleveland.
Bob dedicated his life to his faith, family, profession, and community. He embraced the motto "In All Things Charity" throughout his life. His wit, wisdom, generous spirit and joyful heart will be missed by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
