Lois H. O'Soro

1938 - 2026

Mrs. Lois H. O'Soro, 88, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Horry County, South Carolina on January 12, 1938, daughter of the late Wallace and Effie Strickland Hardwick, she graduated from Aynor High School with the class of 1955, and later from Columbia Commercial College.

For the majority of her career, Lois was employed by the Pittsfield School Department, where she worked as a secretary. It was from there that she retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service.

Among many things, Lois was always happy when spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing cribbage, reading, and, of course, doing her daily jumble.

Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul O'Soro. Paul passed away on July 20, 2017, just weeks before celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Aubrey, Harold and WD Hardwick, sister, Carolyn, and her brother-in-law, Lewis Coble.

Lois is survived by her children, Michael O'Soro, Gail Krebs, Phylis Bhandari and Joyce O'Soro, as well as her 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, all of whom she adored. She leaves behind her sister, Juanita Coble, as well as her sisters-in-law, Jean Hardwick and Winnie Ruth Hardwick.

Funeral services for Lois will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home.
