Louis Leonardo Obituary

Louis Rocco "Rocky" Leonardo 1925 - 2012 DALTON Louis Rocco "Rocky" Leonardo, 87, of Dalton, passed away after a short illness on Feb. 9, 2012, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield. On Jan. 6, 1925, Rocky was born prematurely, seemingly stillborn, in Dorchester. He was swaddled and placed on the woodpile outside, while the midwife attended to his mother. He then surprised them all, by stirring and living for another 87 years. He spent the last years of his life playing pool, bingo, and entertaining friends with stories and jokes at Sugar Hill in Dalton. Rocky was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn M. Orff, in 2004. Rocky is survived by his four children, Lois of Middlefield, Bruce of Las Vegas, Nev., Hugh of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lynn of College Station, Texas. FUNERAL NOTICE: His ashes will be privately interred at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Brookline. The DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.

To all my cousins, I am so sorry for your loss. I will always remember Uncle Rocky's walk - it was exactly like my dad's and they looked so much alike it was uncanny. Uncle, you will be missed by everyone.

Dear Rocky's family, Rocky was my fathers roommate at Sugar Hill and during that time my family and I got to know him a bit. He was one very special man and we are so happy to have known him. We are thankful that he and our father had that time together. He was such a good person, and he touched the lives of so many. He will be missed.
