Marsha Moreau Obituary

MARSHA MOREAU (O'GRADY), on Saturday September 9, 2023 at 8:45 AM Marsha left us and went to a place where she has no more pain and is at peace and rest. She was a mother, wife, sister, aunt and gamma. Her family was at her side when she departed this world and will leave a large void in our lives. Marsha was born on May 30, 1949 to William and Vera O'Grady. She attended local schools and graduated from St. Joseph High School in North Adams. She went on to attend North Adams State College for a time. On April 26, 1968, she married Phillip Moreau and together they had two children and two granddaughters. Marsha and Phillip were together for over fifty-five years.

Marsha had a varied working career starting at the former Central Market in North Adams. She worked as the secretary at St. Johns Church and other positions until moving to North Carolina. While there she was the office manager for a CPA firm and the administrative assistant to the president of an insurance firm. She joined the Postal Service and was the first permanent female letter carrier in the City of Durham. She held many positions and advanced to the management ranks later transferring back to Massachusetts and worked in Pittsfield Post Office for a period of time until being promoted to Postmaster of Great Barrington, Ma. A position she held until her retirement after thirty years of service with the Post Office.

Marsha had many interests that occupied her time. She was an accomplished seamstress and also knitted and crocheted. For many years she made clothes for the kids and gifts for others. Birthday and Christmas celebrations were a time of joy and happiness for all and will forever be remembered by anyone that experienced the affair. She also oil painted and entered several exhibitions and was able to win medals for her work. For a period of about three years, she owned and operated Berkshire Hills Ceramics teaching students how to produce ceramic items. Two of her most enjoyable interests were reading and shopping.

Later in life, she was blessed with the birth of two remarkable granddaughters, Taylor and Riley. They became the focus as the years went by and were the source of much happiness. She would take the girls on vacation and go to concerts at school and Berkshire Lyric Chorus to watch the girls sing and it brought great joy.

Marsha was predeceased by her mother and father William and Vera O'Grady, her brother William O'Grady and by her mother and father-in-law George and Sybil Moreau.

She is survived by her husband Phillip, her daughter Marcie (Ken), her son Cory (Renee), granddaughters Taylor and Riley. Also, her three sisters Karen, Gail (Craig) and Roberta (Gregg). There are numerous sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Celebration of her life will take place Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Flynn Dagnoli Funeral Home from 1:00 until 3:00 PM. at the WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main Street in North Adams followed by a short service. Burial will be at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made for her granddaughter's college fund in care of the funeral home. To add to the Book of Memories, please visit flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com.
