Matthew W. Holes

1963 - 2014 RICHMOND Matthew Wright Holes, 50, of State Rd, passed away Tuesday, at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Dec. 2, 1963, in Zama, Japan, the son of Quentin and Cynthia Dent Holes, he attended Pittsfield and Taconic High Schools and attended Berkshire Community College for environmental studies. Matthew served in the Navy for three years as an assault boat coxswain. Matthew loved life and adventure as a Colorado River Raft & Kayak Tour Guide. He worked as a rancher, antiques dealer, and an amateur photographer. His greatest joys were cooking for friends and spending time with his animals. He loved fishing and searching for antiques. Matthew leaves his life partner, Robert W. Hoppe, of Richmond; former wife, Reni Wood, of Henderson, Nev.; brother, Quentin Holes of Dalton; two sisters, Margaret Holes of Northampton and Jennifer Holes of Easthampton. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Matthew W. Holes will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, from 4 to 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held at a later date to be announced.
