Matthew Pero Obituary

Matthew "Matt" Pero, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, shortly after celebrating his 63rd birthday. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on July 26, 1962, he was the son of James D. Pero and Elizabeth Cardell Pero.

Matt proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in New London, CT. Following his service, he worked at General Electric before beginning a 30-year career as a pressman at The Berkshire Eagle. In addition, he owned and operated his own landscaping business for more than 30 years.

Matt was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Tracy Deloye Pero; his children, Spencer Pero, Sarah Pero, and Shaun (Brittany) Pero; and his two beloved grandchildren, Jordan and Kamala.

He cherished time spent with his family, taking great pride in attending his children's games and races; never missing an opportunity to cheer them on. A passionate sports fan, he especially loved the New York Giants and treasured watching football with his best friend - Jordan. Matt also loved sharing jokes and laughter with his family, a playful tradition fondly known as the "Pero tease."

He is also survived by his sister Mary Manghue and his brother Donald (Bonnie) Pero and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Matt will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 from 4pm to 6pm at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St, Pittsfield MA 01201.
