Michael Hedges Obituary
1996 - 2015 LENOX Michael Elihu Hedges, 19, of West Street, died Sunday Morning at Albany Medical Center Born September 15, 1996, the son of Scott McAdam Hedges and Stephanie Mae Hedges, he attended Lenox schools, was a 2015 graduate of Lenox Memorial Middle and High School, and was a Freshman at Skidmore College at the time of his death. Michael was a communicant of St. Ann's in Lenox. While in high school he was an honor student and was a standout player on the basketball, soccer, and track teams. He loved deeply his family, his friends, his dogs, and the outdoors, especially the Adirondacks. He knew what mattered. Besides his parents he is survived by his brother, Thomas Hedges and sister, Katherine Hedges, both of Lenox; his paternal grandparents, Elihu and Margaret Hedges of Victor, NY; his maternal grandparents, Dorothy Connolly and John MacGillivray of Boston, MA; uncles and aunts, Drew and Suzie Mullin of Rochester, NY and Tim and Missy Hedges of Chicago, IL; and cousins, Katie and Tyler Mullin and Annabelle and Jane Hedges. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral of Michael Elihu Hedges of Lenox who died November 1, 2015, will be Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Ann's Church in Lenox where the Reverend Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor, will celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Private calling hours for Michael's friends and fellow students and teammates from LMMHS are from 2 to 4p.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Church. Public calling hours at St. Ann's are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Michael Elihu Hedges Scholarship Fund in care of the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA 01240.

It is hard to imagine that Michael died one year ago. I can so well imagine that it has been a painful, tearful and very long you for all of you family members. I was recently at Skidmore for parents weekend and my son cautioned me to be careful on the road where the tragic accident occured. My heart goes out to you. Life can be so damn unfair!

Micheal, even though I didn't know you all that well, you will always be a strong part of me, everywhere I go and everything I do until it is my time to leave this world. I just cannot believe that you were one of those kids that I used to play with after school and, looking back on those days, I wish you were still here with us. You had a great smile and amazing heart and you will be missed by all of us of LMMHS and the community as a whole. Michael, we love you.

So very, very sorry to hear about Michael. Although I never met him, I am still deeply saddened to read about all his wonderful accomplishments,and ways that he touched many peoples' lives. Stephanie, Scott, Thomas, and Katherine - words cannot describe the heartfelt sorrow for your loss. I, like so many had the opportunity to see Mike grow up in Lenox and become everything and more of what our community strived to achieve with our youth. It was a real pleasure seeing Mike excel as a student athlete. No doubt you all were so extremely proud of him.
Mike was truly a role model for so many of our young people. His mark on Lenox will remain forever and smiles will be abundant every time his name is mentioned.
