Phyllis McGuire Obituary
Phyllis was born on February 25, 1931 in the Bronx, NY to Agnes Rizzo Daffee (Philadelphia, PA) and her husband Philip C. Daffee (Uj-Verbasz, Hungary). She attended Walton High School and went on to work for Continental Can Corporation where she met her future husband, William McGuire. They were married May 25,1963 at the Church of Our Saviour on Park Avenue in New York City. She and Willam resided in Elmhurst, Queens in New York City where they raised their children Christopher and Jennifer.
In 1988, Phyllis and William retired to the mountains of Williamstown, MA after they fell in love with the area while taking Christopher to and from his alma mater, Williams College. A woman of deep faith, she always became a devout parishioner at her local churches whether in Elmhurst (Resurrection Ascension RC Church) or in Williamstown (St's Patrick and Raphael (RC Church). Phyllis became a columnist for several publications and eventually for the Berkshire Eagle where she delighted in writing articles for her column entitled "That's Life."
In February 2021, Williamstown celebrated Phyllis' 90th birthday with her as a parade was thrown in her honor that traveled down Spring Street and was attended by students, store owners, friends and family. She loved being a Williamstown resident and will be missed as a vibrant member of the community.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday August 23, 2021 at 11 am at St's Patrick and Raphael Parish in Williamstown, MA.
