Raymond Joseph Farinon

1923-2014 NORTH ADAMS Mr. Raymond Joseph Farinon, 90 of 85 Eagle St. North Adams, died Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Williamstown Commons. He was born in North Adams, on August 25, 1923, son of Louis and Julia (Ercoliani) Farinon. He attended North Adams schools. Raymond was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army with the 635th anti-aircraft artillery battalion in the European Theater of operations, in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe as a corporal from April 28, 1943 until November 17, 1945. He was a carpenter by trade and worked with his brother, Orlando Farinon at Farinon Builders for 30 years. After his retirement, he worked with Boucher & Dupuis Painters. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Raymond was a member of the VFW Post #996 and the North Adams Lodge of Elks #704. He enjoyed fishing and sports. His wife was the former Dorothy Hazel Martinelli, who died on March 24, 2013. They were married on April 27, 1946. Survivors include one daughter; Cynthia L. Horrigan and her husband, John of Dalton, Mass.; two grandchildren, Tracy Miller and her husband, Andrew of Barnstable, Mass., and Brad Horrigan of Queens, N.Y.; and two great grandchildren including Kiara Rae and Aidan. He also leaves his sister in law, Sandra Reissour of Springfield, Mass., and many nieces and nephews. Two sisters and six brothers are deceased including Mary Lewis, Rita Girardi, Orlando, Lindbergh, Ernest, Edward, Francis, and Rinaldo Farinon. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Raymond Farinon will be celebrated Saturday May 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the "White River VA Voluntary Service" to benefit the Bennington VA Outpatient Clinic, 215 North Main St. White River Junction, VT 05009 or in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247.
