Richard Shogry Obituary
Richard was a Vietnam War Veteran. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1962. It was there he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge as a Private in 1965.
Dick worked driving trucks, dedicating 35 years doing so. He was first employed by Youngstown Cartage and retired from Responsive Trucking in Agawam.
Among many things, Dick was an avid Yankees and Patriots fan. He enjoyed staying in to watch a good Western film, as well as dining out at many a fine restaurant.
Richard is survived by his lifetime partner, Susan Clark, his nephews, Paul Hashim and his son, Julian, and Mark Hashim and his wife Denise and daughter, Holly. "Daddy Dick" leaves behind his stepchildren whom he loved as his own, Christopher, Matthew, and Amanda. He is also survived by many extended family members.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his older sister, June Hashim, and his twin sister, Marion Shogry. He was also predeceased by his nephew, David Hashim.
Funeral Notice:
Funeral services with full military honors for Mr. Richard "Dick" Shogry will be Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 12 noon at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Burial will follow at Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be directly prior to the service, from 10am to 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory can be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Rd., Pittsfield, MA 01201, or a charity of your choice.

Richard was my father's cousin. My fondest memories of him was when I was a kid and my bus stop to go to Pontoosuc School was Simon's Market.
Richard would go there to make deliveries in the mornings.
He would always seek me out and buy me penny candy, because we were cousins.
As an awkward little kid, this guy made me feel so special.

I offer my condolences to Dick's family. He and I were friends for over 65 years and we always shared pleasantry's whenever we ran into one and other. However brief they were I will miss those occasions... RIP my friend
