Roger M. Atwell

Roger Melvin Atwell, 62, of 89 Barbour St., North Adams, died Saturday evening, Dec. 17, 2005, in the emergency room at North Adams Regional Hospital, after being stricken earlier in the day.
Born in North Adams on July 16, 1943, son of Melvin H. Atwell and Janet (Burr) Atwell DeGrenier, he attended Clarksburg schools.
Mr.Atwell was last employed by Steinerfilm Co. in Williamstown for 20 years. Before that, he worked at the former Widen Tannery.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310, and a member of BPOE Elks Lodge 704 and the Greylock Community Club, all in North Adams. He was also a Son of the American Legion.
His wife, the former Betty Wentz, is deceased.
He leaves a sister and a brother-in-law, Patricia and Bernard Courtemanche of North Adams; two brothers, David Atwell of Williamstown and Michael DeGrenier of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Katherine Atwell Kelesa died in February 2005.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at 9:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by services conducted at 10 at First Baptist Church of North Adams by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor. Burial will be in the spring in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Monday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations to the Eagles’ Building Fund or to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of the funeral home.
