Rose Richard Obituary

Rose Marie (Bua) Richard peacefully joined her husband in Heaven on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. She had her final wish to be at home surrounded by her children.

Rose was born on November 12, 1933, in North Adams, Massachusetts to the late Salvatore and Elena (Corrente) Bua. She attended Johnson Elementary School and graduated from Drury High School in 1953. Her first job was at J.J. Newberry's after school, then at Sprague Electric Company upon graduation in May 1953. She worked as an office clerk for 35 years until the factory closure. Rose continued at Commonwealth Sprague on Brown Street for another four years and enjoyed her last six years of work at Coakley, Pierpan, Dolan, & Collins insurance agency until her retirement in 1995.

While working at Sprague Electric, she met the love of her life, and married Omer "Al" Richard on April 28, 1956, at the old St. Anthony's church. They spent 52 loving and wonderful years together until his death on December 22, 2008.

Rose and Al took a lot of pride in their blue house on Northern Lights, keeping up to the Bua standard, and hosting many parties and family events. Rose was fortunate to enjoy Christmas Eve for most of her life with her siblings and mother at her childhood home on Hathaway Street.

Rose filled her time with quieter hobbies over the years including reading books, listening to her music, and rediscovering her love of knitting. She had a hard time being idle, and her daughter kept her busy with numerous crafts and sewing projects all done by hand. She was a lifelong devoted Red Sox fan watching games every night. Rose loved all of her fur babies over the years; Maisy, Button, and Patton will miss snuggling with her very much.

The most important part of Rose's life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Richard and son-in-law Todd Burdick who lived with her. She is also survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne and Marilyn Richard of Loudonville, NY; Christopher and Mary Richard of Duanesburg, NY; and Salvatore and Laurie Richard of Murphy, NC. As her family grew over the years, she leaves six grandchildren and spouses - Chad, Shaun (Beth), Zachary, Natasha, Morgan, and Amanda (Joe), and three step-grandchildren and spouses - Lauren, Colleen (John), and Justin (Amy), as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Salvatore Bua, her sister and brother-in-law Madeline and Donald Andrews, several nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Rose is predeceased by her husband, her parents, siblings Esther, John, Carmen, and Mary, and various brothers and sisters-in-laws and nephews.
